GCR Aug 2017 Update

God's Country Jamboree

God’s Country Ramblers had a busy month in August. On Saturday night, August 12th, the group
performed a service at Dempster Grove camp ground in New Haven. Sunday morning found the group
performing the 8:45 and 10:45 services at Cicero UMC. And Sunday night found us back in Fellowship
Hall for our regular God’s Country Jamboree service. 70 people attended our Jamboree this month. Ed
Rock sang the Elvis Presley tune “His Latest Flame”. Michelle Dudley and Troy Stevens provided us
with a beautiful rendition of Alison Kraus’s “In The Palm Of His Hand”.

Joe Kramer reminded us about how we are only on this earth for a little while. Jesus gave his disciples a
new commandment – to love one another. This is how his disciples are recognized – by their love for
each other. Joe suggested that we let the love of God fill our hearts so that it will overflow as a blessing
to others.

Our next God's Country Jamboree will be on Sunday, September 10th at 5:45 PM. Y'all come!

God's Country Jamboree

70 people attended our God's Country Jamboree in Cicero on July 9 th . Ed Rock was in good voice, singin
lead on “Try A Little Kindness”, “Three Wooden Crosses”, and “Mister Bojangles”. Bassman Shawn
Harrington was featured on not one, but two tunes: “King Of The Road”, and “Sixteen Tons”.

Pastor Dave talked about how God has called us to be people who are different, who see the world and
our place in it as God sees them. Do we see the new things God is doing in our life? He challenged us to
try to see what we need to change in that we may be God’s love to others.

Our next God's Country Jamboree will be on Sunday, August 13 th at 5:45 PM. Y'all come!

GCR Jun 2017 Update

 God's Country Jamboree

110 people attended our God's Country Jamboree in Cicero on June 11th. This month’s focus was a farewell to Bill and Julie Krupke, who are stepping back from God’s Country Ramblers as they prepare to move south this fall. It was impossible to fit all the songs we wanted to play into the one hour service, so after the service the Ramblers performed another 3 songs.

Lou Coutrie added his signature rythm guitar fills on “Just A Closer Walk With Thee” as a special treat during the offering. Ed Rock sang “Remember When” with lyrics he had written for Bill and Julie. Members of the band took the opportunity to tell Julie and Bill what they have meant to God’s Country Jamboree and how much they will be missed.

Pastor Dave’s message was about fathers and how their role in the home has changed over time, how they are called on to play a more nurturing role than in the past. And in the love of a father we are reminded of God’s love for all his children.

Our next God's Country Jamboree will be on Sunday, July 9th at 5:45 PM. Y'all come!

GCR April 2014 Update

Over 80 people attended the April God’s Country Jamboree Service. It was great to see many new faces. Special music was performed by Lyndsay Tudman on Ukulele, singing Somewhere Over the Rainbow/What a Wonderful World. Karaoke was performed by Kaitlyn More singing Hallelujah. Thank you both for sharing you talents with us. The congregation enjoyed a new That’s Good/That’s Bad comedy routine along with our usual corny jokes. Tina Haines gave a moving message after we watched Chris Tomlin’s Amazing Grace My Chains are Gone music video. Tina reminded us how God’s Grace is a gift waiting to be accepted by us. She shared a story about a teacher who taught his students about Christ’s sacrifice for each of us and how often we don’t receive the gift of the grace of Jesus Christ.

Please join us for our next God’s Country Jamboree, Sunday May 11th at 5:45 pm. God’s Country Ramblers will be providing a worship service at Malta Manor, Sunday May 18th at 10am for “Be the Church” event. Hope to see y‘all there!
